Monitoring
SNMP interfaces & bandwidth
Interface state, uplink intelligence, VLANs and traffic counters.
Add SNMP credentials (v2c or v3, stored encrypted) to a switch, router or firewall and PingIQ monitors every interface: operational status, speed, errors, and — on uplinks — bandwidth utilisation.
Uplink intelligence
- LLDP neighbour data classifies uplinks vs access ports automatically (you can override per interface)
- An uplink going down is not the same severity as a desk port — alerts are typed and routed accordingly
- Interface status history shows flaps over time
Bandwidth
- Uplink traffic counters are polled every 60 seconds (64-bit counters preferred, automatic 32-bit fallback for older gear)
- Rates are computed at query time from raw counters — charts stay accurate across reboots and counter wraps
- Per-interface bandwidth history charts in the dashboard
VLANs
VLAN membership is pulled from your switches and used to group devices and to detect cascade failures (many devices in one VLAN failing together usually means one upstream cause — you get one infrastructure alert, not fifty device alerts).
Test SNMP from the dashboard before enrolling: Devices → Test SNMP runs a live reachability/credential check through the probe.
