Hardware probe appliance

The PingIQ Probe Appliance is a small, fanless Raspberry Pi shipped pre-flashed with the PingIQ image and pre-registered to your tenant. It's the same probe as the software install — just delivered as hardware so you don't need an always-on machine at the site.

Setup

There's nothing to configure:

• Plug it into power and your network (ethernet)
• It boots, connects outbound to PingIQ over HTTPS, and registers itself
• Within a minute it appears under Dashboard → Probes and starts discovering/monitoring

When to choose the appliance over the software probe

• Branch offices, retail and remote sites with no spare always-on server
• Environments where you'd rather not install software on existing machines
• Standardised, identical hardware you can stock and swap

Operations

• Self-updating with watchdog supervision — same one-click remote updates as the software probe
• Outbound-only: no inbound firewall rules; telemetry like syslog/NetFlow stays on your LAN
• If it goes offline for 15 minutes you get a probe-offline alert
